And you get to watch one of eight airworthy Ford Trimotors in the world taking off.

I heard a prop plane engine coming up behind me while I was driving, but was not ready for this thing to come puttering over me low and slow. I hung a u-turn and followed it the four miles or so to the small nearby airport, just in time to witness this thing being unloaded and take off again. I’m not as much of a plane nut as some people on, but the Ford Trimotor is one incredibly cool plane. It has also buzzed the house half a dozen times now.

That’s EAA’s. I rode on it at Oshkosh a few years ago. Pretty incredible experience.

Weird. Maybe they had a problem with their plane and borrowed a different one. They were definitely giving tours.

I got to tour one last summer when I joined a friend in northern Indiana to shoot the Thunder Run. It was beautiful, and beautifully corregated.

Didn’t they have a propensity for flipping on landing, or was it takeoff?

I'm pretty sure there were 2 of them giving rides at OSH this year - I don't know who owns it, but maybe this is the 2nd one?
